Growing up in the growing solar industry
I got my humble beginning in solar in the Northeast as a student in the early 2000s interested in sustainability and autonomous life. My original goal was to learn more about these issues enough, then I could go back to the Earth, too and continue my work as an advocate renewable energy and sustainability.
Instead, my fortune changed very unexpectedly.
I was a product of the dye t-shirt and sandals of solar days; When what mattered was that you were a true believer in the Cause. I spent much time to read the page of Home Power Magazine, volunteering at events related to the sustainability and delights the ecologists of the old guard who were among the tiny percentage of people to live the deflection off the coast of the grid with solar. The 1990s in the Northeast: it was as close to that you could get solar energy without returning to land yourself.
Then, at the beginning of 2006, I saw an ad in the ads for a local newspaper of a Solar Installer, the search for a part-time plumber. I would be cold and pitch appellant myself to this small startup. A small basement-office MOM-and-pop operation up growth rough and tumble in a regional Corporation of installation, I started to refresh a career in solar energy, not as an advocate I had originally intended, but as a young man with a tangible green job helping to put solar panels on the roofs of every day.
Now, having recently moved to what many consider “solar plant” in the SF Bay area, I turned my views to engage in the forefront of the evolution of the solar industry in support of software products, financial products, monitoring solutionsnew marketing techniques. The growth of the solar industry has exploded in recent years, although it is still a level comparable small industry compared to many others.
The SF Bay Area and especially Silicon Valley, is governed by related incubators cleantech start-ups and investment groups looking for the next big market breakthroughs. Many General cleantech events or meetups, especially technology companies and networking groups could fill your schedule of almost every night of the week. For motivation, there is no shortage of places to get involved.
Now, solar particular graduated in heavy weather. Those involved are not required to be of the “true believers” to be involved. The conditions are met, the time has come, and many young people are enthusiastically to the search for ways to impact positive career they find personally and professionally satisfying. It is the ideal time to be a renewable energy professional.
As the San Francisco fire green new Casino Insider, I look forward to sharing ideas and the prospects for autour in our region, as well as in-depth coverage of cleantech and events related to entrepreneurship and summits.
